Haircuts women love in their men

Not all women agree on what haircuts are hot. But if you know how to play to your strengths, you’ll maximize your chances of them thinking you’re hot.

Haircuts women love
Ask any girl what haircut she likes on a man and you’re guaranteed to get a strong response.
This is because she has already visualized her wedding day about 5,000 times. No detail has been overlooked, including her husband’s hair, what song will play during the father-daughter dance, and which choreographed dance routine she and her bridesmaids will wow the crowd with.
Where were we? Oh, yeah, women care a lot about hair.
The problem: Not all women agree on what haircuts are hot. Some love the messy, bed-head look and others are grossed out by it.
The solution: A haircut that at least some women love and that works with your hair type and personality.
Your cheat sheet: All of these haircuts are hot-girl approved (yeah, we asked), and we’ll tell you who each one will work for.

men's haircuts zac efron Zac Efron
This kind of guy can pull it off: Easy-going, casual or “trendy” guys, surfers.
This kind of guy can’t: Clean-cut guys, guys over 30 (maybe 35 if you dress young enough), anyone who works in a corporate or formal office.
The hair you’ll need: Straight, thick hair is best. Guys with some wave to their hair can make it work. You can try it with thin hair, but you’ll need more product to keep it up.
How to style it: Use pomade or hair wax. Warm a quarter-sized dollop between your hands, run it through dry hair, then use your fingers to spike it in random directions. If you’re trying to make it look perfect, then this look isn’t for you.

Simon Baker
This kind of guy can pull it off: Low-maintenance guys, romantics-at-heart, or guys who just want to look like one.
This kind of guy can’t: Super straight-laced guys, tough or macho men.
The hair you’ll need: Wavy or curly hair is a must for this.
How to style it: Since this cut is a bit on the long side, you’ll want to use conditioner in the shower. To style, use a curl-defining cream, run it through your hair, twist a few pieces into curls around your forehead and let it air dry.

Mehcad Brooks
This kind of guy can pull it off: Confident guys, balding men (great way to hide it), recent Army recruits.
This kind of guy can’t: Lumpy-skulled men should avoid this look, although that can be hard to tell until you’ve shaved, so you’ve got to be a bit of a risk-taker.
The hair you’ll need: Well, since you’ll be shaving it all off, any type will do.
How to style it: You’ll need shaving cream and a brand-new razor. If your hair is longer than an inch, trim it down first to make things easier. Post-shave, don’t forget your sunscreen. Burnt scalp is not attractive.

Jake Gyllenhaal
This kind of guy can pull it off: Almost anyone really. Works great for business types, no-fuss kind of guys.
This kind of guy can’t: Super-creative guys won’t like this (not a whole lot of styling options) and rebellious guys might feel weird looking this mainstream.
The hair you’ll need: Straight hair is a must. Fine or thick will do.
How to style it: You might be able to get away product-free with a cut this short. But for some control, apply a light-hold gel and comb hair to the side.

Robert Pattinson
This kind of guy can pull it off: Artistic types, lazy guys, vampires.
This kind of guy can’t: Anyone who needs to look remotely professional.
The hair you’ll need: Wavy, thick hair will work best. Curly guys can try this as well.
How to style it: Here’s the thing about this look: While it seems like Pattinson rolled out of bed and onto the red carpet, he actually spent some time styling this. Try using a pomade or styling wax to mold your hair up into this messy shape.
Crucial bonus tip: You want to look like you were rolling around in bed all night, not smell like it. So don’t skip showering to try and make this more authentic.

John Cho
This kind of guy can pull it off: Serious, and/or strong, silent types, guys with high IQs.
This kind of guy can’t: Guys who cringe at the above description, guys whose hair won’t part to the side.
The hair you’ll need: Straight hair works best with this, and it helps if your hair naturally parts to the side.
How to style it: If your hair goes this way on its own, then you’re good. If not, use a light-hold gel and comb your hair over to the side.

Adam Brody
This kind of guy can pull it off: Comic book/video game guys, guys who always have a snappy comeback on hand, comedians.
This kind of guy can’t: Ultra-macho men, guys who need to be taken seriously.
The hair you’ll need: Curly or wavy hair is a must.
How to style it: A curl-defining gel is crucial to keep your look cool, not frizzy-’fro. Put a nickel-sized amount in your hands and run it through wet hair, then let your hair air-dry without touching it too much. That causes more frizzy-’fro

Ryan Reynolds
This kind of guy can pull it off: Life-of-the-party guys, confident, borderline cocky guys, secret agents.
This kind of guy can’t: Guys who are really into trends, guys going for the sensitive artist look.
The hair you’ll need: Straight or slightly wavy hair will work best with this.
How to style it: A medium or strong-hold gel will give your hair the lift Reynolds has. Apply the gel to dry hair and use a comb to push your hair up and back, but don’t try to make it perfect.

Matthew McConaughey
This kind of guy can pull it off: Artists, bohemian types, guys who don’t live near a barber shop.
This kind of guy can’t: Guys who stopped smoking weed after college, guys with 9-to-5 jobs.
The hair you’ll need: Wavy or curly hair and time to grow it out.
How to style it: Conditioner (in addition to shampoo) is a must with longer hair to keep it soft. After showering, apply a curl cream to wet hair and let it air-dry.

Matt Damon
This kind of guy can pull it off: Classic, stand-up guys, guys with the beginnings of a hair peninsula (no shame, Damon’s got one too.)
This kind of guy can’t: Anyone who got really psyched when he saw McConaughey’s pic was a hot-girl favorite.
The hair you’ll need: Straight or slightly wavy hair, fine or thick will work.
How to style it: Apply a medium-hold gel to damp hair, comb into place and let air-dry. If your hair isn’t sticking up in the front like you want it to once it’s dry, apply a little hair paste and mold it into place with your fingers. Ask mirror, “How you like them apples?”
